How to get here

Faro airport to the East is about 80 km (50 miles) and the drive takes about 50 minutes along the new highway.

The Area - Western Algarve

Beaches

The beautiful beaches of the Western Algarve are set between the cliffs of this dramatic coastline. 6 miles of beautiful golden sands can be found at the local beach of Meia Praia, which is just across the road from Mira Baia where Casa Teresa is located.

Golf Courses

There are numerous golf courses to choose from in the area.
  • Palmares at Meia Praia East of Lagos in only 3 minutes away
  • Boavista is 8 minutes away.
  • The new Golf Club Morgado do Reguengo.
  • Penina is a championship course to the East.
  • Parque da Floresta is a short drive west towards Cape Saint Vincent.

    For The Sports Enthusiast

    If sporting pursuits are your thing then you will certainly not be short of things to do. Water Ski-ing, Scuba Diving, Mountain Biking and Deep Sea Fishing are just a few of the activities available.

    Keeping the Kids entertained

    There are lots of activities for children of all ages nearby, which include Pony Trecks, water sports at Luz, Surf School, and also Tennis and Football Camps. The 'Splash & Slide' water park is only a 20 min drive from Lagos near the town of Lagoa (operators of theme parks in Portugal are subject to strict safety standards and regulations)

    Some Places to visit

    Portimao is the second biggest commercial town after Faro. If you are looking for shops, head for Ruo do Comercio. There is also a huge market here on the first Monday in every month.

    The West Coast of the Algarve is spectacularly beautiful and relatively undeveloped. The trappings of Tourism are minimal but the draw is the vast uncrowded beaches and breathtaking cliff scenery. Inland is the mountain village of Monchique and is a particularly pleasant drive. On the way stop, at the village of Caldas de Monchique which has been a Spa for at least 2,000 years.

    Restaurants

    The are lots of fantastic restaurants in and around Lagos to cater for many different tastes varying from tradition Portuguese, seafood, Italian, Swiss, Indian and Chinese. The best seafood restaurants are usually found close to local beaches where the fresh fish selections and ambience are both second to none. The local sardines are a must!
